Beckenham Fire Station
Project: Beckenham Fire Station – Roof and Facade Refurbishment
Client: London Fire Brigade
Skyline Roofing Solutions Ltd was contracted by the London Fire Brigade to deliver a comprehensive refurbishment at Beckenham Fire Station. The project involved the thermal upgrade and waterproofing of approximately 1,300m² of flat roofing, using Garland White-Knight Polyurethane liquid waterproofing in conjunction with 140mm PIR insulation to meet current thermal performance standards.
In addition to the roofing works, Skyline stripped the existing facade cladding and installed 190m² of Garland R-Mer Rockwool sandwich panel cladding and 300lm of aluminium copings, significantly enhancing the building’s thermal and aesthetic performance.
Skyline also undertook the replacement of all skylights, including a 10-metre barrel rooflight, ensuring improved natural light and energy efficiency.
All works were completed while the fire station remained fully operational, with zero disruption to emergency services throughout the project.
Reginald Sorenson House
Project: Reginald Sorenson House – Flat Roof Replacement and Thermal Upgrade
Client: Hawksmoor Construction (on behalf of Anchor)
Skyline Roofing Solutions Ltd acted as Principal Contractor for the refurbishment of the 1,030m² main flat roof at Reginald Sorenson House, a live-in residential care facility. The project scope included complete site setup and management, including independent access scaffolding, materials hoist, and on-site welfare facilities, fully compliant with CDM regulations.
The existing roof coverings were stripped back to the structural deck, and a new warm roof system was installed. This included PIR insulation to improve thermal performance, overlaid with Polyroof Protec cold-applied liquid waterproofing, a BBA-approved system known for its seamless application and long-term durability.
Works were carefully phased to minimise disruption, with strict controls on noise, access, and safety. All operations were carried out with zero impact on the daily operations of the care home.
Queen Katharine Academy
Project: Queen Katharine Academy – Roof Overlay to Sports Hall and Theatre
Client: Equans UK
Skyline Roofing Solutions Ltd provides ongoing reactive maintenance and emergency roofing works at Queen Katharine Academy on behalf of Equans UK. Following a history of multiple repairs to the single-ply membrane systems on the Sports Hall and Theatre roofs, caused by poor original installation, we were instructed to assess long-term refurbishment options.
After conducting a series of core samples and condition surveys, our recommendation was to install a liquid-applied overlay system. This allowed retention of the existing build-up while achieving full waterproof integrity and thermal efficiency.
Skyline specified and installed the Polyroof Protec cold-applied liquid waterproofing system, a robust and seamless solution ideal for complex roof geometries and refurbishments. To enhance access and maintenance safety, Skyline also installed new designated walkways using Polyroof PolyGrip in Traffic Red, providing a high-contrast, slip-resistant finish that clearly defines safe routes without compromising aesthetics.
The system will now form part of the ongoing maintenance strategy delivered by Skyline.
Kingshead House
Project: Kingshead House – Roof Refurbishment and Detailing
Client: Bloom Construction Group
Skyline Roofing Solutions Ltd was engaged by Bloom Construction Group to carry out a full roof refurbishment at Kingshead House, covering both pitched and flat roof areas.
The works involved the strip and removal of the existing natural slate and leadwork, followed by the supply and installation of new natural slating and lead detailing to abutments and valleys, all installed to Lead Sheet Association (LSA) standards.
For the flat roof and gutter areas, we applied Polyroof Protec cold-applied liquid waterproofing, delivering a seamless, durable solution ideal for multiple roof interfaces and complex detailing.
As part of the finishing works, we fabricated and installed purpose-built roof copings using Polyroof Protec with GRP edge trims, providing a robust, weather-resistant solution with a clean, contemporary finish.
This project showcased Skyline’s ability to integrate multiple roofing disciplines and deliver a high-quality result with long-term performance in mind.
